How to spend $200 in an auction draft
Three rules cover most winning auction builds. First, buy scarcity, not points: the gap between the RB2 and RB8 is worth far more than the gap between WR8 and WR20 — your budget belongs where the cliffs are. Second, fade the middle: players ranked roughly 25-60 cluster together, so the $25-35 range is where budgets go to die; either pay for the elite or wait for the cheap tier. Third, win the endgame: save $15-25 for the final third of the auction, when most managers are capped at $2 bids and starting-caliber players sell for a fraction of value.

Should I pay full price for the top players?
Paying near value for elite players is usually correct — the top of the board is where production is scarcest. The mistake is overpaying for the middle: once the top 40 are gone, remaining players cluster together, and patience wins. Save budget for the endgame, where $1-3 players outperform their price every year.
What is a value-over-replacement model?
It prices players by how much better they are than the best player available for free at the same position. A running back projected to score 100 points more than the best waiver-wire RB is worth real money; one projected 10 points better is worth close to $1. Scarcity, not raw points, sets auction prices.
Do auction values change by scoring format?
