How the draft order randomizer works
Every name goes in a virtual hat, and the tool draws them using a Fisher–Yates shuffle — the same unbiased algorithm used in professional randomization tools. Every possible order is equally likely, so no manager can claim the fix is in. Run it live on a league call or screen-share it in your group chat so everyone watches the draw together.
Snake draft vs. straight draft
In a snake draft — the default on ESPN, Yahoo, Sleeper, and NFL.com — the order reverses each round: the manager picking 1st in round 1 picks last in round 2, and the manager picking last in round 1 picks first in round 2. That flip is what keeps drafts fair, and it means the difference between pick 1 and pick 12 is smaller than it looks. Draft-order tips for 2026
- Early slot (picks 1–4): lock in a top-tier RB or WR, then attack the 2/3 turn — your next pick comes fast.
- Middle slot (picks 5–8): the most flexible position; let the tier structure on your cheat sheet decide between positions.
- Late slot (picks 9–12): plan back-to-back picks at the turn — pairing a WR1 with a high-end RB1 or elite TE is the classic move.
- Randomize early, not draft night: knowing your slot a week out lets you mock draft from your actual position.
