PropsBot tutorial #11 · David, PropsBot founder · published July 23, 2026 · 5:01. Recorded late on an MLB night, so only one game was left on the board.

In this 5-minute video, David shows how to bet alternate lines with the PropsBot Ladder: see a player’s hit rate at every rung (3+, 4+, 5+), check the sample size and recent form, and find the best rung — the one paying the most for its hit rate. He also shows PrizePicks goblins and demons on the sheet and how to shop every book’s price for a rung.

The methodHow David bets alternate lines with the Ladder

  1. Pick a market and a rung. Choose the market (he uses hits + runs + RBIs), click a rung column such as 4+ and sort by season hit rate.
  2. Check the sample. Jordan Walker led 4+ at 29% on the season and 40% over his last 15. The games count — 28 of 97 for Walker — stays on screen whatever you sort by, so a hot rate over 26 games does not pass for one over 97.
  3. Check recent form. Sort by last 5 or last 10 to see who is hitting the ball now; three hitters were clearing 3+ in 60% of their last five.
  4. Take the best rung. The Ladder flags the rung where the price is best for the hit rate. For Vaughn Grissom, 4+ paid +440 and 5+ paid +850 with a 20% hit rate, and 5+ was flagged: “You’re getting way more for the same hit rate.” The prices are the books’ real odds — “I’m not making any of this up,” as he puts it.
  5. Compare goblins and demons. PrizePicks goblins and demons sit on the same sheet, so you can set them against sportsbook alt prices.
  6. Shop the rung. Click a player’s name to see every book’s price at each rung. If the best price is at a book you do not use, the next one down is right there.

The break-even math: +850 needs a 10.5% hit rate to break even and +440 needs 18.5%. Next to a 20% hit rate, the 5+ rung has far more room. Hit rates are history, not a forecast, and long alt lines miss most of the time by design, so size them that way.

In the video, David says the Ladder covers MLB, NBA, NFL and WNBA. For the definition and settlement basics, see alternate lines; to check any price, use the implied probability calculator.

FAQBetting alternate lines

How do you bet alternate lines?

Pick the market and a rung, check the player’s hit rate at that rung with its sample size and recent form, then compare the price with the hit rate. The PropsBot Ladder flags the best-value rung and shows every book’s price for it.

What is the best rung on an alternate line?

It is the rung where the payout is highest for how often the player has cleared it. In the video, 5+ hits, runs and RBIs paid +850 with a 20% hit rate; +850 breaks even at about 10.5%.

Are PrizePicks goblins and demons alternate lines?

They work like them: goblins are easier lines that pay less and demons are harder lines that pay more. The Ladder shows them next to sportsbook alt prices so you can compare.
