NFL Picks Against the Spread: Current Card
There is no active weekly NFL ATS card on July 20. The first 2026 game is the Hall of Fame Game on August 6, followed by the broader preseason Week 1 slate on August 13-15. PropsBot will publish a side only after the matchup and current offer can be verified.
For spread, moneyline and total picks in one place, use NFL picks today. The NFL odds board is the current price surface. This page stays focused on one question: how often does a team finish ahead after the posted handicap is applied?

What Against the Spread Means
The point spread adjusts the final score for betting purposes. If a team is -3.5, it must win by at least four points to cover. A +3.5 underdog covers with an outright win or a loss by three or fewer. At a whole number such as -3, a three-point win can push when the book’s rules return the stake.
The spread and the price are separate. Philadelphia -3 at -105 and Philadelphia -3 at -125 ask for the same margin but not the same break-even probability. PropsBot records both pieces because a side can remain attractive at one price and become a pass at another.
How PropsBot Builds an NFL ATS Projection
Start with expected possessions and efficiency
Team strength is translated into points per possession, expected pace and matchup-adjusted efficiency. Opponent quality matters: similar scoring averages can come from very different schedules. The model also distinguishes stable down-to-down performance from a few explosive plays that may not repeat.
Adjust the units that create the margin
Quarterback status is central, but it is not the only availability input. Offensive-line combinations, pass rush, coverage, run defense and special teams all affect the margin. PropsBot links the weekly card to NFL defense rankings and defense vs. position so a broad rating can be traced to the relevant matchup.
Account for venue, rest and conditions
Travel, rest, surface and weather can move the fair range. Wind has a direct path to passing depth and kicking; precipitation alone is not a complete handicap. Forecasts need a location and timestamp, which is why PropsBot uses the National Weather Service near kickoff rather than treating an early-week icon as final.
Compare the fair margin with the live spread
A projection of Team A by 4 does not automatically make -3.5 a bet. Model uncertainty, sportsbook margin and the available price still matter. The decision needs enough separation to survive reasonable error. Use the implied probability calculator and expected value calculator to inspect the arithmetic behind the price.
Why Key Numbers Matter
NFL scoring makes some margins more common than others, especially three and seven. Moving from -2.5 to -3.5 crosses a more meaningful range than moving from -4.5 to -5.5, even though both moves are one point. The exact value changes by scoring environment and overtime rules, so a key number is not a universal betting command.
Price can compensate for a less attractive number, but the comparison is not automatic. PropsBot’s odds-shopping guide keeps the line and price together. It rejects the common mistake of calling a cheaper price “better” when it requires a worse spread.
ATS Picks, Moneylines and Totals Answer Different Questions
| Market | Question | Input with extra weight |
|---|---|---|
| Spread | Will the team cover the posted margin? | Possessions, late-game style, key numbers and price. |
| Moneyline | Will the team win outright? | Upset paths, quarterback variance and explosive-play probability. |
| Total | Will the teams combine for more or fewer points than the line? | Pace, red-zone efficiency, weather and offensive availability. |
The NFL implied team totals page translates a spread and game total into market scoring expectations. That is useful context for both ATS and player-prop research, but it remains a market-derived estimate rather than a forecast of the final score.
How Line Movement Changes an ATS Pick
Suppose a reviewed side was +3 at -110. If the market moves to +2.5, the original analysis cannot simply be copied to the new number. The bettor lost half a point across a key margin. If the price also moved, both changes must be recalculated.
Movement does not prove that a side is sharp or correct. It tells you the contract changed. PropsBot records the current line, current price and capture time, then asks whether the revised offer still clears the decision threshold. A strong lean at an unavailable number belongs in the review log, not the live picks table.
Weekly and Matchup ATS Research
The NFL Week 1 picks hub links the full opening slate to all 16 matchup owners. Week 2 through Week 18 pages are already organized from the official schedule, while the 32 NFL team prediction pages provide opponent and schedule context. These pages deepen a pick; they do not publish a different spread owner.
Player props can support a game view when the connection is direct. A thin offensive line and elevated pressure expectation can affect both a side and a quarterback market. Use NFL player props today for the player-level decision rather than mixing the two contracts.
When PropsBot Passes on an NFL Spread
- The market crossed the reviewed fair range or a key number.
- The current price requires more certainty than the model supports.
- A quarterback, offensive-line or secondary status remains unresolved.
- The weather forecast is too early or materially unstable.
- The offered market does not match the line used in the analysis.
- The estimated edge is too small after accounting for uncertainty and vig.
A weekly page does not need a pick in every game. Leaving a row blank is more useful than forcing action from a weak difference between the model and the market.
Sources and Freshness
Matchups and kickoff times are checked against the official 2026 NFL schedule. Baselines use NFL statistics and Next Gen Stats. Availability returns to the official NFL injury report when weekly reporting is active. Sportsbook lines remain the source of truth for the contract a user can actually take.
NFL ATS FAQ
What does against the spread mean in the NFL?
An NFL spread gives one team points and asks whether that side will finish ahead after the handicap is applied. A favorite at -3.5 must win by four or more to cover; an underdog at +3.5 can lose by three and still cover.
Does PropsBot have NFL ATS picks today?
PropsBot publishes an ATS row only when a current game, spread, price and timestamp can be verified. On July 20, there is no active weekly NFL ATS card.
Why do NFL spread picks change?
Quarterback and injury news, weather, lineup changes, limits and market action can move the spread or price. A pick must be reevaluated when the available offer changes.
Are ATS picks better than moneyline picks?
Neither market is automatically better. The spread asks about margin while the moneyline asks only who wins. The better option is the one whose current price offers value relative to a defensible probability estimate.
